What you will actually see

The parents. The grandparents in a lot of cases. The kennel, the yard, how they are fed and where they sleep. Nothing gets staged for a visit.

What to ask me

Most people feel awkward asking a breeder hard questions. Ask them anyway. If a breeder gets defensive about any of these, that tells you something:

Can I see the parents? Not a photo of the parents. The parents.

What did this line throw last time? A real program knows. Somebody buying their breeding stock in does not.

What health testing does this dog have? Ask about the individual dog, not the program. I will tell you exactly what a given dog carries.

What happens if something goes wrong at two years old? Ask whether you still have their number then. You will still have mine.

How tall will he be? Height, not weight. Anyone dodging that is selling you a guess.
