How I pick a puppy
Program, then parents, then puppy. In that order. It works whether you buy from me or somebody else.
1. The program
- What has this breeder actually produced, and how did those puppies turn out years later?
- What does their place look like when nobody is tidying up for a visit?
- Will they talk openly about their dogs' weak points?
2. The parents
- Your puppy is a blend of mom and dad. Meet them, or watch them on video.
- Watch them move and breathe. That tells you more than any paper.
- Ask about the grandparents. A breeder who knows the line knows them too.
3. The puppy
- Every eight-week-old puppy is cute. That's why the puppy comes last.
- Pick the personality that fits your home: calm or playful, male or female.
- Color comes last. Pick the dog, then the color.
- Size is judged by height, and by the parents. Nobody can promise an exact adult size.
