Are Mini and Micro English Bulldogs Real?

The short answer

Yes. And the number one question, "how do I know it's really a true mini or micro?", has a one-word answer: proof.

Words are cheap. Measure the dog with a ruler at the top of the shoulders, see it moving from every angle next to other dogs, and see the puppies that line has produced grow up. A standard bulldog stands about 13 to 17 inches; a mini is 13 inches and under; a micro is under 11.

The number one mini and micro question, and the one-word answer.

The answer is proof

The number one question with mini and micro bulldog puppies and studs is: how do I know it's really a true mini or micro? It's a one-word answer: proof.

This girl is the proof. She was born here, raised at home by us, and she grew up to be a true mini and micro size with the health, temperament and function. She's proof that Fury, our mini bulldog stud, really produces true minis and micros.

That's why we keep puppies and watch them grow up: we get to see proof of concept, and make sure they have the temperament and health we talk about. Proof is the hardest thing to get, because it takes a lot of time. Then the data either proves it or it doesn't. In our case, it does.

Measure him: the ruler doesn't lie

Is DaChamp a true mini bulldog, or are we playing with angles? It's so hard to tell on camera. So here's what most people don't want you to see: a ruler. A lot of people claim mini and micro bulldogs and don't really have them. It's the same as not showing all the angles, or the dog moving.

You put the flat part on top of the back of the front shoulders, straight up and down, and you can't fool the camera. A standard bulldog is going to be 13 to 17 inches tall. A mini is 13 inches and under. DaChamp measured 11.5 inches, and he's probably a little lower than that.

Think about a standard bulldog in that 13 to 17 inch range: that's four to almost six inches taller than DaChamp. He just looks big because he's so thick and so structurally sound.

"That's not a micro, that's a big Frenchie"

Every time I post one of our girls, I get the comment: that's not a micro, that's not a mini. So here's DaPump next to a standard Frenchie, a standard Frenchie next to our mini bulldogs, and a standard Frenchie next to two of our micro bulldogs. DaPump is way smaller than a standard Frenchie: he's a mini Frenchie.

It's hard to tell in videos and pictures because bulldogs this thick and compact look bigger than they are. Honey Bun and Brulee are both full-grown adults: a true mini and a true micro English bulldog. Super compact, super short, thick, and super healthy, functional, good-tempered dogs.

Words are cheap, proof is king

One thing I've learned from over a decade with mini and micro English bulldogs: words are cheap, proof is king. DaMilkMan is our micro English bulldog stud. He produces true micros and true minis, with health, temperament, structure and functionality.

But those are words. In my years of dealing with dogs I've been lied to a bunch, so it's easier to prove it myself. I've known DaMilkMan since the day he was born and I know exactly where he comes from. And now we have years of proof: his puppies that are grown adults, minis and micros, healthy and well built.

A micro English bulldog next to a mini Frenchie

This isn't English bulldog vs Frenchie. It's a micro English bulldog vs a mini French bulldog. Both are full height and length (they'll still get thicker). Brulee, the bulldog, is about the same height and length as that mini Frenchie, and that Frenchie is small. Next to a full-size Frenchie, these two are in a class of their own.
