The short answer
If you find a good breeder near you, great. But a puppy is a 10-plus-year commitment, and statistically the best dog for you probably isn't near you.
Everything is "near me" now: anywhere in the U.S. is a short flight or a drive. Choose the best breeder for the dog you want, then sort out the distance. We're in central Florida, and we deliver.
"Bulldog breeders near me" is a really common search, and I don't think it's a smart one. That's just my opinion. When I'm looking for a dog, I don't care if it's near me or a flight away. A dog is a big commitment and a big part of your life, and you want the best dog for you.
I practice what I preach. I traveled far for both my German Shepherd and my Newfoundland: the Newfoundland came from Michigan, because I wanted the right personality, temperament and health for my daughter. Same with bulldogs.
This is Diggs, a Fury son, on a four-hour drive from central Florida to his new family in Miami. He sat with me the whole time, chilled. That's the temperament you want, from good-tempered parents, and then you keep putting the dog in good situations.
I forgot to trim his nails before we left, so I did it on the way, so he doesn't scratch his new family or the kids. I use regular puppy clippers and cut right under where the nail hooks, not past it. Look for the pink part, the quick, and stay away from it. When in doubt, cut less, not more: if you hurt the puppy and it bleeds, it'll be scared of it later.
Handle your puppy's feet and trim them young, with good experiences, and it won't be a problem when they're older.
Keep your puppy cool in the car. I like them on the floorboard with the AC pointed at the floor, and I check the floor with my hand: in some cars the engine parts underneath make the floorboard very hot.

In this day and age, everything is near you: you can cross the U.S. in a couple of hours. Getting a puppy is a big decision, so get the best one for you, whether it's in your town, the next state, or across the country.
