Common questions › Mini & micro size
Mini English Bulldog or French Bulldog?
The short answer
Size-wise, a true mini or micro English bulldog is about the same size as a Frenchie. So the choice comes down to personality.
English bulldogs tend to be calmer, cuddlier and more laid-back as they grow up. Frenchies tend to stay more energetic, hyper and agile. Both can be both, and there's no wrong answer: it's your preference.
Personality: calm and cuddly, or full of energy
Frenchies are small, playful and full of energy. English bulldogs are calm, cuddly and more laid-back. Both can be both: you'll still see energy in English bulldogs and calm cuddliness in Frenchies. But in general you'll see more calm and laid-back in the English, and more energetic and comical in the Frenchies.
Personally I like the English more, but I've grown to really like the Frenchies. If size for your space is what matters, Frenchies are usually better because they're smaller. But our mini and micro English bulldogs are about the same size as Frenchies, so with us it's not about size. It's about attitude, temperament and personality.
As puppies, both are energetic and play together. As they get older, the English get a bit lazier, cuddlier and more laid-back, and the Frenchie stays the more hyper, agile, active dog.

Why we have a Frenchie: to compare
Photos, filters and angles lie. Real structure and real size don't. At first glance DaSugarMan might look like a full-size bulldog: he's thick and compact, and thickness makes a dog look bigger. That's why people get fooled online.
Next to DaPump, our mini French bulldog, he doesn't look so big. Bring in a true standard French bulldog, and you really see how small he is. Even when he's closer to the camera, which makes a dog look bigger, he's about the same size as a standard Frenchie.
Watch out for that trick: people put the dog they want to look smaller behind the other one. That's why we always show comparisons, movement and natural play, and lots of video. We don't breed for height. We breed for structure, function and truth.

Color comes last, for every dog
Whether it's a mini bulldog or a Frenchie, we focus on health, structure, functionality and temperament. I'm not into the whole color chase. Color is the last thing on my list.
People chasing color and money forget everything else, and it gives the breeders who do a good job a bad name. Health, structure, temperament and functionality first. Then color.
