The short answer
The stud's health sets you up for success: healthier puppies, easier whelping, puppies that move better, and everything goes smoother when you use healthier dogs.
And you get what the stud is. If you love a dog's size, function and temperament, use him or get a puppy from him. Watch out for studs posed to hide a high back: ask to see them moving and standing naturally.
A standard English bulldog is 14 to 17 inches tall, with males usually at the higher end. This is one of our studs, Fury Jr.: 12 inches tall, a true mini, really small.
And being a stud, he's an asset to the breed: functional, moves great, runs great, playful, great temperament. That's what you want to see in a stud.

A trick some people use: they pose the dog with the butt lower, because the dog has a high back. This is Fury just naturally drinking water: no high back. Perfect structure, health, temperament and functionality. Always ask to see a stud standing and moving naturally.

The most important thing in getting what you want: get it from the parents of what you want. If you love DaMilkMan, his size, his function, the full package, use him as a stud or get a puppy from him. If you don't, don't.
